The handsome and dashing Vishal Karwal who was well known for his caring attitude was the hottest contestant of Roadies 4 on MTV, but lady luck evaded him from winning the title. However, he was second time lucky as he won Splits Villa Season One along with Shraddha. And now, the young lad is seen hosting the show Couple Sutra on MTV along with Shraddha.

The actor has now bagged a plump role to make his debut as actor in fiction shows, and will be seen as the male lead in COLORS' upcoming show Sabki Jodi Wahi Banata..Bhagyavidhata, produced by Shreya Creations.

And as reported earlier, the female lead will be played by yet another new face to television, Richa Soni. Bhagya Vidhata will focus on a horrifying custom prevalent in Bihar wherein the marriage takes place with the groom placed at gun point by the girl's family and well-wishers.

According to our source, "The show will be launched in May and will take up a prime time slot".

Must say, this is indeed a lucky break for Vishal…

Sony all set for revamp from May 25th..

Sony Entertainment Television is all set for a new face and a new look. The channel is going for a revamp from 25th May 2009, and the buzz is that many of the existing shows will be going off air, and some radical and fresh concepts are being chalked out to replace them.

According to our source, "Fiction shows Hum Ladkiyaan, Ek Safar Aisa.. Kabhi Socha Na Tha, Aathvaan Vachan and reality shows Comedy Circus 20 20, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa will be ending in May".

Also the unique series Specials @ 10 will also see its end during the same period.

Danish Khan, Marketing Head, Sony talked about the new strategies planned,"We are in the first phase of revamp. We have seen the audience change, so now it is our turn to change. Our revamp will happen on May 25th which will include a vast change in programming, the look and feel of the channel along with the graphical elements".

When asked him about the programming changes, he said, "We are surely launching new shows which will mean few of the existing shows will go off air. But we do not want to talk more on the programming details as of now, as we will be moving to the second phase of our strategic planning only in the first week of May".

"We promise three facets to our viewers in our new line-up which will be Novelty, Variety and Quality. We will give the viewers radical fiction concepts never seen before on Television. In realities, we will be coming up with something very unique and interesting in the coming months. May 25th will just be the beginning of a new phase, and over the next three months we will introduce many more fresh concepts", adds Danish Khan.

We tried to ponder more into the shows that might be going off air, and called production houses and actors of the shows that fall in the hit-list.

Shrishti Arya, Producer of Aathvaan Vachan says, "Well, it is the channel's decision and I have no say in this. I can just hope that I do get some place after the revamp happens in the channel".

An actor of Hum Ladkiyaan on terms of anonymity says, "We are feeling very bad as we were very much attached to the show. Now there is nothing that we can do. We are now concentrating on the tracks to end the show".

It seems as though Sony's top rated fiction show Meet Mila De Rabba still has a ray of hope for survival. "As far as I have heard, we have got an extension and we might continue. I have not heard anything about our show going off air", states the lead actor Piyush Sahdev.

But future looks bleak for Rashmi Sharma's Ek Safar Aisa… Kuch Socha Na Tha as the show has not been able to deliver numbers ever since its launch. When called Rashmi Sharma, she says, "It is true that our TRP's have dipped. But we have not been intimated by the channel on closure".

However, our source informs us that, "Meet Mila De Rabba has been fairly doing well, so there are chances that the show might not go off air. But nothing is decided yet. On the other hand, the other three shows are surely tipped to go off air".

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is tipped to end in May end. "After that there are chances of Dus Ka Dum coming back with the second season. Comedy Circus Season 3 is also in the pipeline. Palampur Express and Rani Padmini of Chittod are the two fiction shows which are in the pipeline", adds the source.

"If the buzz is to be believed, KBC is also in pipeline for Sony. Though the host has not yet been decided, it is heard that talks are going on with Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor. But everything will be finalized in May", concludes the source.

Rohit Bakshi in Rani Padmini of Chittod.

Rohit Bakshi who wooed all as Piyush in Kahiin Toh Hoga will be seen essaying the role of Rani Padmini's husband, King Ratnasen in the upcoming historical show on Sony.

Earlier, it was reported that Sony Entertainment Television is coming up with a magnum-opus historical show Rani Padmini of Chittod, which will be produced by Production Designer/Art Director turned Producer Nitin Chandrakant Desai.

A new face Tejaswini will play Rani Padmini while the popular Bollywood actor Mukesh Rishi will essay the role of Allah-ud-din Khilji.

Now adding up to this, here's an exclusive news on the male lead of the show.

Talented and known actor Rohit Bakshi will be essaying the role of Padmini's husband and the ruler of Chittod, King Ratnasen.

Ratnasen was a brave and noble warrior king, and apart from being a loving husband and a just ruler, he was also a patron of the arts.

The handsome Rohit Bakshi wooed his audiences as Piyush in Kahiin Toh Hoga. He played the dutiful son-in-law of Tulsi Virani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Rohit was also seen playing a grey character in Balaji Telefilms' Kaajal. Recently, he was seen playing a cameo in Kumkum and was also seen in Smriti Irani's Mere Apne on 9X.

According to our source, "The show will be a daily and will take a prime time slot. The launch of the show will happen in the last week of May, but nothing is clear about the time slot".

Parakh Madan to enter Burey Bhi Hum

Parakh Madan who essayed the role of the gutsy Inspector Monica Mogre will now play the female lead in Star Plus' recently launched show Burey Bhi Hum Bale Bhi Hum, produced by Hats Off Productions.

The unit has recently zeroed in on the name of Parakh after going through the audition phase. Promos of her entry have also been shot and will be on air very soon.

Talking about her character, She will be playing the love interest of Jay, essayed by Ashutosh Kulkarni. Jay who is a total 'Brahmachari' will eventually fall in love with this full-of-life 'Bindaas' girl and will get married. She will enter the house and set right the family.

Parakh confirmed the news, "Yes, it is true that I have bagged the role. I have started shooting too. My character name is Krishna, who is a typical Gujrathi. She is a Kathak dancer, and this falls to my advantage as I am also one in real life. This surely gives me an edge to play the character. Also, viewers will be seeing me in a completely different avatar. Krishna is a very sweet girl with all the values instilled in her".

Parakh's entry will be aired coming Monday.

Sarwar's entry in Jyoti brings a new twist.

Sarwar Ahuja is debuting in television as an actor with NDTV Imagine's Jyoti. With his entry comes another big twist which will change the life of Jyoti (Sneha Wagh).

He is entering the show as Sachin, but this is not his real identity. He is conning as he does not want Jyoti to know the truth about him.

Elaborating on the twist further he is basically the one who gives huge amount of Donation to the Ashram called Shishu Mangal. Jyoti frequently visits this ashram to spend quality time with the kids.

His real name is Pankaj and he is blind. Things do not go well between them in their first interaction, but later as the story moves, there is every chance of the two getting into a relation.

The actor will be entering the show on 21st April.

Athvaan Vachan couldn’t keep up to its promises

Indian audience have really become very choosy and smart with their taste of daily soaps as now they don’t want to see the same saas-bahu and same old stories serials. Because of the low T.R.P. most of the Balaji’s show and other shows on the idiot box had to pull down their shutters and now Athvaan Vachan the show on Sony is also going off air because of the TRP issues. It’s now high time and the scriptwriters and storywriters should pull their socks up and should come up with something which rather than boring tempt the audience to view the show. We asked Sony’s fiction head Sanjay Upadhyay and this is what he replied, “The show has been on air for a pretty long time but has not lived up to its promises. We are closely watching and have informed the producers for the same but no decision has been taken as of now.” Vishal Singh the lead actor said, “Well it’s not confirmed yet and I do not know anything.” The actors of the show are still not confirming but according to our sources it is confirm that the show is going off air and the other show which is going to replace it is also decided.

Hiten Tejwani on his role in Kitni Mohabbat Hai

Hiten tejwani became the heartthrob after playing Pratham in the serial called Kutumb on sony entertainment television. Now the actor would be entering NDTV Imagine’s Kitni Mohabbat Hai in which he is playing the character of a young music sensation. We had a brief chat with Hiten about his role and about he being very choosy these days.

Q. Tell us about your role in your new show Kitni Mohabbat Hai?
A. It’s a role of a music sensation Karan Singh. I am playing the judge of a music competition. The character of Karan has a lot of attitude and he is a bindaas type of character.

Q. How is this role different from your other roles?
A. This role is quite different from my other roles as I will have a very different look in the show unlike my other shows, I will wear more of jeans and funky clothes rather than the normal formal clothes.

Q. Tell us about your experience and tuning with the new cast and crew?
A. I have only shot for two days so I can’t say much about it but yes it’s a young fresh team and I enjoyed working with them it was a good experience altogether. And as now I have no role till ten days so I when I will start of again then I can tell you much more about my tuning and experiences.

Q. Do you think the show will gain TRP because of your entry in the show?
A. I can’t say that but yes because of my role the viewers will get to see a lot of twists and turn in the show which will make the show interesting, so may be or may not be the TRP will increase. I have always got a good response from my fans for my roles and I hope this time also, I will get a positive response from them as they will discover a new Hiten altogether.

Q. You are hardly seen on television nowadays….why?
A. Yes, I am on a self imposed break from television because I do not like the roles offered to me. This character was different and interesting so I took up this one. And if something very interesting will come in my way then only I will do that role.

Q. Gauri and your on-screen jodi has always being appreciated, so would Gauri too be paired with you in this serial?
A. Yes, I know our jodi has been appreciated quite a lot onscreen but no, Gauri won’t be paired with me in this show or in any other show as she is on a break from television these days. She is focusing more on her painting these days.

Q. What is that one thing you would like to change in the television industry?
A. Who am I to bring any change? And in fact I think I don’t want any changes. I just want that we get to work on new concepts and get to work on new and good roles.

Q. How do you manage to keep yourself so fit?
A. I follow a strict diet regime and also workout daily. I avoid outside food and prefer having home cooked food.

Q. Any Bollywood plans?
A. Yes definitely I would love to do Bollywood but only if something interesting comes my way.

Bharat Chawda back in Bandini

Bharat Chawda, the young lad who fell in love with Santo (Aasiya Kazi) earlier in NDTV Imagine's Bandini is back on the show!!

The present track focuses on the alliance of Kadambari (Prerna Wanwari) with the son of Dharamaraj Mahiavanshi's friend Meghna, named Duggu. This is a complete case of misunderstanding wherein the girl is in love with a guy called Sandeep, but is now being forced to marry Duggu.

Meghna and Dharamraj have arranged the engagement of Kadambari and Duggu, and the guy is supposed to come down to meet the girl and get engaged. The interesting twist in the story line will be that Shashank played by Bharat Chawda who had earlier fallen in love with Santo turns out to be Duggu.

According to the new story line wherein Duggu will get into a dilemma seeing Santo there. Also, Kadambari being in love with another guy confuses matters more. You will have to wait and watch to know how the story unfolds.

For the uninitiated, Shashank (Bharat Chawda) was seen in the initial episodes of Bandini wherein he had come to the village to do a research on Gujrati culture. It was then that he frequently met Santo and had fallen for her. The day he decides to propose to Santo, he realizes that she is getting married.

COLORS becomes the No. 1 GEC

As the battle for supremacy continues between Star Plus and COLORS, this time it is the recently launched channel COLORS that has emerged to be the No. 1 GEC, pushing Star Plus to the second position.

COLORS has notched 297 GRPs and secures the top position, followed by Star Plus which has 267 GRP. Zee TV occupies the third spot with 236 GRP.

According to source from the channel "Sphere Origins show Balika Vadhu has an average TVR of 5.7, while Jai Shri Krishna has an average TVR of 4.4. The recently launched shows on COLORS, are doing really well for the channel. Uttaran averages with 3.5 while Na Aana Is Desh Laado has an average TVR of 3.4.The weekend reality show Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has an average rating of 3.2 while the horror show Koi Aane Ko Hai has shown a TVR of 3.2. Last but not the least, Jeevan Saathi has an average of 2.9".

However, while COLORS has surpassed Star Plus and has emerged as the No. 1 GEC, Rajan Shahi's Bidaai remains to be the No. 1 show across all channels, with an average of 6.5 TVR, followed by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai taking the second spot with 6.3 TVR.

It looks as though the sea-saw battle will go on...

Preeti Keswani enters Miley Jab Hum Tum

It seems to be a Season of new entries in Star One's Miley Jab Hum Tum, as after the entry of Rahul Arora, it is the turn yet another new face to make her presence felt in the show.

The model turned actor Preeti Keswani will be entering the show. Her entry will be aired coming Monday.

On her character,her screen name is Sheena. She will be the next style statement in the college, and will be at par with Dia when it comes to look and style. She will prove to be a catalyst for Dia to get jealous.

Vikrant Massey to enter Balika Vadhu.

The actor who got popular with the show Dharam Veer on NDTV Imagine, Vikrant Massey is back with a new show. The actor will soon be entering on COLORS No.1 show Balika Vadhu.

Just few days back, we had report about the entry of Rahul Lohani as the new guy in Gehna's life, and it now looks as though Sughna (Vibha Anand) who recently lost her husband will soon be getting a new partner.

Vikrant will be entering the show and will go on to play the love interest of Sughna. His character name is Krishna, but the story line post his entry has not been finalized yet.

The actor will be entering the show during IPL. Mostly it would be somewhere around May. The way in which he enters the house and his rapport with Sughna will be the high point of the show during the cricketing season.

It is heard that Vikrant was offered one of the lead roles in Nitin Desai's show on Sony, Rani Padmini of Chittod. He also had an offer from BAG films new venture on Star Plus.He had many offers, but then the role in Balika Vadhu interested him more. They had auditioned many people, but finally zeroed down on Vikrant for the role.

'DMG is a closed chapter for me' - Shilpa Anand

Shilpa Anand, the original Riddhima of Star One's Dill Mill Gayye has not been forgotten by her loyal fans, who even today demand her comeback into the show.

The entry of the third Riddhima in Jennifer Winget has really made her fans upset, as they feel that Shilpa Anand should have been brought back.

Shilpa Anand who categorically stated that, "I had no inclination to get back to Dill Mill Gayye. But I got a call last week, and the channel wanted me to get back to the show. However, the production house was not ready to pay me what I quoted".

When asked her about the money she wanted and what the producers did offer, Shilpa said, "I really do not want to talk about figures in the media circle".

When we asked her about reports that she quoted big money, she quips, "I have had some bad memories working with the unit and thought if I had to get back after all that, they had to pay me the price. Having said this, I also maintain that I did not quote that huge a sum. Anyways, it did not work out. But frankly speaking, it happened for the good as I did not want to get back to DMG. DMG for me is a closed chapter. When I was there, the show was a hit. Even though I have not really followed the show after that, I have heard that the show is not doing well now".

"In addition to this, I have had many problems in the past with the production house and did not want to get into a tangle yet again", adds Shilpa.

Tell her that her fans look forward to her comeback into the show even today, and she quips, "There is something called 'Destiny', and life around me has changed a lot in the past one year. I really feel bad for my fans who have loved me to no extent. I love all my fans, and I have personally got lot of love from the character of Riddhima. I wish the show all the best and viewers a happy viewing".

On life, Shilpa states, "I have not been in the country at all for the past few months. I had been to New york, and returned just a couple of weeks back. After coming back, it was heartening to know that DMG was calling me back (laughs)".

Life has been a roller coaster ride for the actress. "I actually ended up breaking relations with my boy friend Parikshit Sial. We had been dating for nearly two and half years, but we knew each other from many years. There were certain family issues, and at times you get to realize certain things much later. Also, he had other plans in life and hence we decided to part ways", explains the actress.

Shilpa says she has moved on in life and is looking forward to more happening things. "I will surely let you all know if I accept any project. After all, I want to make my fans happy again", says the actress as she signs off.

Dimple Jhangiani in Star One's 'Hum Dono Hai Alag Alag'

The decision of Dimple Jhangiani to move out of NDTV Imagine's Kitani Mohabbat Hai seems to have worked for the actress, as she has bagged a meaty role in Star One's yet another youth based show, produced by Playtime Creations.

Chahat Khanna and Garima had been finalized for the role but the channel wanted a better face to play the protagonists.

The title of the show which was tentatively kept as 'Humaari Jodiyaan' has been changed to 'Hum Dono Hai Alag Alag'. The show is a tale of two brothers of contrasting types; one is dumb while the other is shrewd and good looking. Yash Pandit will play the brother who is dumb while Manish Raisinghania plays the relatively better one.

Dimple will be cast opposite Yash Pandit while Manish will be opposite a new comer who is yet to be finalized.

Dimple said, "I had been waiting for Kitani for nearly six months, but then decided to move on as I was loosing out on quality roles and time. It was a mutual understanding with Balaji Telefilms and they were also fine with my decision. I am happy to have got this role. This is a youth-based show and is quite challenging, so I am far away from the usual rona-dhona.".

The show is slated to get a prime time slot and will launch post IPL.

Jennifer Winget, the new Dr. Riddhima.

Star One's very popular youth based show Dill Mill Gayye, produced by Cinevistaas will see a new Riddhima from April 13th, and taking over the mantle from Sukriti Khandpal is the charming and cute Jennifer Winget.

With this, the on screen pair of Karan Singh Grover and Jennifer whose chemistry was very much appreciated by viewers in Kasautii Zindagi Kii get together yet again to rekindle the past memories.

Talking about her entry in the show, Jennifer states, "It is great to be working with the Dill Mill Gayye team. Today is my first day of shoot, and I got a very warm welcome from the unit".

"Karan and I have been paired again after three long years. It feels nice to be working with him all over again; we have been great friends and our chemistry was very much appreciated in Kasautii. So we are looking forward to give our best", adds the new Dr. Riddhima.

Jennifer will be the third Riddhima in the show, after Shilpa Anand was replaced by Sukriti Khandpal nine months ago.

Commenting on the change in the lead character, EVP and GM of Star One, Mr, Ravi Menon said "After a memorable stint as Dr. Riddhima, Sukriti Khandpal has decided to move on from the Dill Mill Gayye family in search of other prospects. It was an amicable decision and with her departure, Jennifer Winget is the perfect choice for being the sweet, head over heels in love and innocent girl. We're sure she'll perfectly justify the role of Dr. Riddhima."

The replaced Sukriti Khandpal said "Well, the show was not going anywhere. The only progress in the story after I joined in was that, all got to know that Armaan and Riddhima were in love. As of now, I have few nice projects in my hand, and did not want to let go of it. I have no regrets of moving ahead; I know that I have given my best and have played the character to the best of my ability. I am happy that I have in the process garnered lot of appreciation from my fans. DMG has given me all the recognition it could have given, and there is nothing more that I can gain from it. Above all, I am happy for the fans of DMG who will now get a chance to see their third Riddhima. I had no adverses with Shilpa too, and even now I am glad that Jennifer has joined in".

Talking about the apprehensions of being the third Riddhima in the show, Jennifer states, "I will take this character as a very fresh one. It is like starting a new soap for me. I have no apprehensions whatsoever, and I would try my best to keep up with the real essence of the character. I know that with me coming in, the show will do well".

Balaji’s come back into comedy, after Hum Paanch

Guess we have heard it right. Balaji who gave comedy a totally different meaning and concept by its very much loved show ‘Hum Paanch’ is venturing back into the comedy era.

A source from Balaji says, “Very soon, after IPL, Balaji will be coming up with this new comedy show. They are working on the script as of now. We are mostly hitting on established comic actors like Satish Shah. The casting will soon start once we are done with the script”.

When asked about which channel they will choose for their comic venture, the source replied, “We are in talks with a few channels but most probably we will fix up with Colors”.

We tried contacting Ekta Kapoor but her mobile was not reachable.

Ghar Ki Baat Hai to become one hour weekly

With the IPL season starting, SRK's TV show "Ghar Ki Baat Hai" on NDTV Imagine produced under the banner of Red Chillies Idiot Box, which started as a tri-weekly show ( Friday to Sunday) is going to be one hour weekly, on Saturdays between 9-10PM from 11th April.

Two new episodes will be telecast back to back. So there will be double masti and dhamaal for viewers. Confirming the change Director Anant Mahadevan says, "I always thought comedy should be weekly. Ghar Ki Baat Hai has found its own mark. The feedback for the show is excellent. So are the reviews by TV critics, who have called it an "absolute scream" and rated it among the best comedies on Indian television."

"People even watch the repeat telecast and we have the best of talent in terms of actors who have amazing comic timing. Once a week airing of two episodes back to back every Saturday is a good idea. In case of a Sitcom like "Ghar Ki Baat Hai" the entire story is told within a stipulated time of 25 minutes, unlike soaps that stretch forever... It is a comedy of manners and words rather than the comedy of slipping on the banana peel," he adds further.

The story revolves around the hilarious situations and events in the lives of the Yagnik family, a young couple, Rajdeep and Radhika Yagnik, living in Mumbai along with Radhika's unemployed brother Kapil Kumar aka Kaku. The constant one up situations between the brother's in-law and the wife playing the bridge between them gives way to a comedy of errors. How these diametrically different people unite as a family, is the essence of 'Ghar ki Baat Hai'.

Aathvaan Vachana gets three months extension.

Sony and Rose Audio Visual's show Aathvaan Vachan started on a good note, but found itself in trouble after the death of Manali, with its TRP's going down!! And with this, there was a buzz that the show might wind up if they do not deliver better numbers.

Well, for the ardent viewers of Aathvaan Vachan, there is good news for the moment, and as per our source, "The show has recently picked up and has managed to hold its ground. Hence the channel has given them an extension".

Shrishti Arya of Rose Audio Visuals confirmed this news. The show has got a three months extension and now all are happy about it.

There are lots of twists and turns to be revealed in the show and we are working towards developing the next track.

After the entry of Pallavi Subhash, the numbers got better. The story is doing fine at the moment, but Aadesh aka Vishal Singh is yet to take his Aathvaan Vachan. So there is lot more to be shown and seen.

Maa to be replaced by Ghar Ghar Mein.

Zee's recently launched show Maa will be axed, and replacing it will be a unique game show Ghar Ghar Mein.Maa, produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms will be seeing its untimely end, courtesy its low TRP's.

An actor on terms of anonymity confirmed that, "Yes, it is true that Maa is drawing to a close.The show never got the numbers it promised, and one of the reasons being that the channel had planned the launch of Maa initially in a prime time slot. A slot as early as 7 PM did not fit into the bill as far as the concept was concerned".

Now Maa will be winding up on April 17th, and a unique game show Ghar Ghar Mein will be replacing it.

Maa had a very good ensemble cast of Chitrapama, Amarr Upadhyay, Vineet Raina, Jhanvi Cheddha etc.

According to our source, "Ghar Ghar Mein will launch on 20th April at the 7 PM slot. It will be a game show hosted by Vipul Roy and Manish Paul, where they will be going from house to house and will put the family members, basically housewives on the hot seat with their impromptu questions on various aspects. They will give away prizes too, to the most deserving family member".

We messaged Producer Shyamashis Bhattacharya to confirm the news of Maa, but he remained unavailable for comments.

Even Ajay Bhalwankar, Programming Head, Zee was also not available to comment.

As we begin the countdown for the launch of the next COLORS' show, Sabki Jodi Wahi Banata.. Bhagya Vidhata produced by Shreya Creations,we give you more details on the cast list finalized for the show.

As reported earlier, the female lead will be played by newcomer Richa Soni, while Atul Srivastava who was earlier seen in Kareena Kareena plays the girl's father and a lesser known actress Meena Nathani plays her mother. Another newcomer Pooja Yadav will play sister to the female lead.

Kishwar Merchant to enter Miley Jab Hum Tum

The gorgeous Kishwar Merchant will soon be entering Star One's Miley Jab Hum Tum!!

She will enter as the Drama Professor Ms. Tamana who is first mistaken to be a student by Dodo(Jas Karan Singh). Her character will be similar to Sushmita Sen's in Main Hoon Naa, the only difference being that Sush was seen in transparent sarees in the film, while Tamana is the modern version who will be seen in western outfits.

She will be the next hot and happening thing in the show, and boys will just go gaga over her. She will be seen in hot dresses mostly floral designs. Dodo who first mistakes her to be a student falls head over heals for Tamana and will fall in love with her. In fact, Tamana is from the same college and had passed out just three years back, and is now back to take over as Professor.

Jai Bhanushali, popularly known as Neev of Kayamath is returning to fiction after a long time.

According to sources, "He has been approached to play an important character called Dhruv in Sony's upcoming daily Palampur Express, which has been shot in Delhi and Palampur. Dhruv is a good looking MBA friend of the lead girl who is an athlete. The lead actress is yet to be finalized".

Palampur Express traces the girl's growth as sprinter as she moves from one championship to another. The source informs that besides Bhanushali only Tej Sapru, who plays the lead girl's father are known faces in this Roshan Abbas's Encompass Productions presentation.

NDTV Imagine's Jasuben Jayantilal Joshi's Joint Family is closing its doors to viewers on March 28th. The JD Majethia-Aatish Kapadia show which had a huge family as its protagonist with Jasuben (Swati Chitnis) solving her family problems, started as a Monday to Thursday affair when the channel launched, and was then turned into a weekend show before finally getting wrapped up. We spoke to J.D. Majethia on why they chose to give Jasuben a decent burial…

"Like COLORS and Star Plus which are running their shows from Mondays to Fridays, NDTV Imagine wants to do the same. Jasuben was running from Fridays to Sundays. With the Hindi films being sold to TV channels for lesser prices, more and more big ticket movies are being sold to multiple channels which run them within one or two weeks of each other. Films fetch a collective viewership on a Sunday and that
positively affects the GRPs of a channel which in turn reflects positively in the TRPs. Besides, in between these films, channels run the promos of their daily shows, so that becomes in-built advertising", quips J.D.

Adding on, he says, "Now in such a scenario, it wouldn't have made sense to run Jasuben only on Saturdays. Yes, we are not completely satisfied with how Jasuben fared on the channel. It came at a time when COLORS had launched their Khatron Ke Khiladi and we all know how the channel affected the other shows then".

Talking about change seen in television, he quips "Today television has become very unpredictable and uncertain. What was on an upswing once is nowhere today. A show which did well two weeks ago today has a massive TRP drop…so it's all very uncertain. It's no longer a channel versus channel competition, its one show versus the other and that's a good sign because viewers now have a choice and they no longer have to watch a show out of habit even if it's badly made. They can switch to something else".

"It's a decent burial for Jasuben, no sweat because apart from Ramayan, it was the only show left to go off air from the first lot of shows NDTV Imagine had announced during their launch", concludes the Producer.

Mona Vasu returns as Juhi on Specials @ 10

After Radha Ki Betiyaan, Mona Vasu is all set for her new act on Sony, and will be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine - Zindagi ke Panno Se on Specials @ 10. The new series of Juhi will air this Thursday on March 26th and Mona is essaying the lead role.

Talking about her stint in the series,Juhi lives in a small cottage in the outskirts of the city with her 7 year old son Vaasu and her very boisterous and flashy mother Sarla. Juhi is a single mother who supports her son and her mother.

Vaasu is very unlike a 7 year old child. Though he has friends and does very well in his studies, unlike other kids he never opens up. He is usually withdrawn and lives in his world except the time he writes to his father who is a seaman traveling the world and writes to his dad every week.

In return Juhi replies to those letters. A day comes when Vasu wants to meet his dad. This is where the big challenge comes in the life of Juhi. Now she plans to fulfill her son's wish. This is the high point in the story where there is a twist.

Shakti Anand is essaying an important role in the show.He is the one who helps Juhi in her plans. The manner in which all this happens is something to be watched.

Talking about Juhi, Mona Vasu said that, “Juhi is a touching story of a mother-son relationship. It is about a mother wanting to keep her son away from the consequence of her failed marriage with an abusive man.” Mona had loads of fun while shooting for Juhi and bonded like a house on fire with the little kid who plays her son Zeeshan in the story. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Mona. On the first day of the shoot Mona, in order to build a rapport with the kid, asked him which game he like the most to which the kid said football, Mona said she too like football and then asked him who from the unit did he want to kick on the face, and little Zeeshan, irritated from the constant questioning said Mona Vasu. Mona broke into laughter, but bonded famously with the kid thereafter.It is directed by Ashvini Chaudhary.

So viewers are you ready for another high drama on small screen. The episode starts on 26 March at 10:00 pm.

Gauhar accuses Shilpa of copying..

Things are getting fishy in the Season 3 of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as contestants accuse each other...Again in the limelight is Gauhar Khan...

Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 3 opened up with a controversy looming large between Gauhar Khan and her choreographer, Hanif Hilal. Now Gauhar is again at the thick of things, as she recently accused Chak De girl Shilpa Shukla of copying steps in the last episode.

According to our khabroo, "Shilpa scored a perfect 30 last week for her performance on the number 'Zinda Hoon Main', and this irked Gauhar who felt that injustice was done to her, as she fell short of Shilpa in the race".

Trouble began when after the shoot of last week's episode Gauhar accused Shilpa of copying steps. She pointed to the fact that the same steps were used by Mouli Ganguly and Mazher for the same song in Nach Baliye 4. "Gauhar was heard saying that Karishma who choreographed for Mouli and Mazher in Nach, assists Nishant who is now the choreographer of Shilpa", adds our source.

"Gauhar went on to say that the act of Shilpa was so similar to the duo's act in the Star Plus show. They had scored the highest for their act and here too, Shilpa scored the maximum", concludes our source.

The reign of the wicked Jiji (Nivedita Bhattacharya) will be finally over this week in Zee's Saath Phere.

Saath Phere produced by Sphere Origins will see a major highpoint this week with the accidental death of Jiji.

According to our source, "Jiji and Saloni (Rajshree Vaidya) will have a tussle in the terrace when accidentally Saloni pushes Jiji, and she slips and falls off from a great height. This will mark the end of the very popular negative character".

When asked whether this is also one of Jiji's plans to trap Saloni, our source confirms that, "No, we are surely bringing about an end to Jiji's character. But all in the family start to think that Saloni has deliberately pushed Jiji off the terrace. Thursday's freeze will see Saloni being arrested by the police for the charge of Jiji's murder".

"The track ahead will probably have court room drama, but we have not decided on it yet", concludes our source.

Another elimination in Jhalak House

Well its time for another contestant of Jhalak to bid adieu to the stage of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, season 3. The unlucky participant this week was Anand Raj Anand who could not win the hearts of junta and judges.

Monica Bedi was in the bottom two with Anand Raj Anand. It was a tough competition when the two danced but suddenly Anand blanked out leaving everyone in miff.

His chorographer continued to perform while he stood straight in confusion. Everybody including Vaibhavi tried to cheer him up but their efforts failed and this musician cum singer failed to perform.

Anand took his elimination very sportingly.It seems he knew about it and took his removal with a smile. Though judges and other participants felt bad for him.

It's survival of the fittest...truly said!!!

Entry of Suryakanth in Betiyaan Scrapped??

It was earlier reported that Suryakant aka Yatin Karyekar of Zee's Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan will be soon coming back to the show. But of late, it was discovered that his re-entry has been scrapped.

If sources are to be believed, "The entry was planned due to the dipping TRPs of the show, but recently the show has picked up again which forced the creatives to stop the come back of the man".

"Everything was finalized by the production house as well as the channel. Yatin was also present at the venue during the celebration of 500 episodes of the show. It was then that he discovered he might not be coming back to the show, and it is heard that he had immediately walked out of the party showing his displeasure", adds our khabroo.

Yatin was unavailable for comments. We also struggled to get some official person from the channel or production house to talk about this, but we were not lucky enough.

Well, all we can say is that only TRPs decide the fate of an actor in the industry!!

‘Dulhan’ gets a lifeline for two months

The show Dulhan has unexpectedly got a lifeline, just as a contestant in KBC gets a lifeline when he doesn’t know the answer. Shakuntalam Telefilms show has been given an extension for a couple of months.

Sources say that the show has been given only two months to work on. If still the show will not gain TRPs then it will have to go off air. The only thing which will depend on the show’s staying back will be the show’s TRP.

We hope the track of Dulhan works out fast or else Dulhan will have to bid farewell to everyone.The downfall of the TRPs started when that Gauri's track was introduced, I guess now the creatives have realized their mistake,thats why they have modified the storyline.As informed earlier that Gauri's character will eventually exit from the show followed by lead pairs reunion.

Hope this new track will give life to the show!!!

Balika Vadhu and Bidai goes down on the TRP charts

According to the latest TRP ratings out this week indicate a major fall in the rating of the 2 lead shows i.e. Balika Vadhu( Colours) and Sapnaa Babul Ka…Bidaai ( Star Plus). The former has tanked to 5.8 from a peak of 10 which it had reached with the death of Sugana’s husband Pratap. This Colours show was normally averaging around 8. Even the latter which also was doing an 8 had dropped to 6.3.

But the surprise package this week has been the rise of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. This Star Plus show on arranged marriage produced by Rajan Sahi has become number 1, with a rating of 6.4. a notch below Bidaai also produced by Rajan Sahi.

Rajan accepts that the ratings of Bidaai have fallen a bit, “This will happen for we don’t want to make every episode a high point. The story is gearing up for a major drama. I would go so much to say that the saga actually began with now with both Ragani and Sadhna married. Once the new drama sets in the ratings will again surely rise.

Rajan is also not afraid of the upcoming IPL tournament, “Even last season Bidaai got very high rating. I sincerely believe that we have a loyal audience who will come back even during the cricket craze. Hence I don’t feel the need to resort to stunts”" Most GEC channels had avoided launching new show last year during the first edition of IPL He further says that the current band of 6-8 TRP rating is quite good given the fact most other shows don’t do more then 2/3.

A source from Colour says that they accept that Balika Vadhu has dropped and that they will sit down to find out reasons for this drop. They accept that cricket may be one of the reason ( SET Max is second in GRP race) . But the Colour source says that their other new shows are doing well. “Na Aana Iss Desh: Laado and Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari’ and Laadli are giving good numbers 3.5 and 2.3 TVR respectively . And the Balaji Telefilms' horror show Koi Aane Ko Hai which replaced Dancing Queen is also giving a 2.8 which is quite good given the fact that fiction does not do quite will on the weekend slot.” ended the source.

With this, Star Plus stands tall as the #1 Channel with 322 GRPs followed by Set Max which takes the second spot with 301 GRPs, while COLORS is the third with 250 GRPs. Star Plus has 72 GRP lead from last week giving it a distinct 29% leadership.

Hope that this is a temporary fall and this is a warning sign for the Colors channel to gear up well!!

The actor who was last seen on Star Plus in 'Saans' is back after a gap of ten long years..

Kanwaljeet Singh was last seen on Sony's Aisa Desh Hai Mera and now the veteran actor is back with new offering of Star Plus, Sabki Laadli Bebo, produced by Endemol.

Back to the channel after a long association in the past, the actor states "I am returning to Star Plus after ten years with Sabki Laadli Bebo. My last show with the channel was Saans with Neena Gupta. I feel great to be working for them again".

He got a similar offer from another show, but opted for Laadli Bebo. "I would not like to name the show, but somewhere I felt this story has more substance and liked the script", he adds further.

"I feel if you get a good base, you can construct the building well. This is the story of a family where the father longs to have a daughter after having three sons. Even when the third boy was to be born, he wishes to get a girl. He loves his sons a lot, no doubts about it but he has a desire to get a girl child in his family. Finally his wishes are answered with the arrival of Bebo", he explains.

Elaborating more about the story line the actor chirps, "This is not a documentary but a simple, emotional and beautiful story of Bebo and the ups and downs of her life".

Talking about the lead Shiv Shakti aka Bebo, Kanwaljeet verbalizes, "She has not even started with her shoot but people here have already started loving her. For me she is like my daughter", he concludes.

Aneesha Kapoor to be eased out of Dulhann

Aneesha Kapoor who essayed the role of Gauri in Zee's Banoo Main Teri Dulhann will finally have a graceful exit from the show which will pave way for the union of the much-in-love couple, Amar and Divya.

According to our source, "Gauri who has lately been brainwashed by Sindoora has got a feeling that she can very well be part of Amar's life as Divya is away from him. However, things take a U-turn when she hears the news of Divya showing signs of recovery. Gauri then starts to feel that she has no reason to be in the house as Amar and Divya are made for each other. As the news of Divya regaining consciousness enthralls all in the house, Gauri slowly steps back and walks out of the house without informing anyone".

We called Aneesha for a confirmation on this, and the actress said that, "Though I have not heard the narration yet, it is true that Gauri will exit from the show soon".

With the news coming in that Dulhann has managed to get an extension of just one month, the story seems to be falling in place for a grand reunion of the leads.....

Prime time shows extended on Imagine

NDTV Imagine is all set for a change in the slots of its prime time shows. As Oye… It's Friday bids adieu this week, the prime time shows on the channel will be given an extension of one more day, and will now be aired from Monday to Friday from March 27th.

The channel has now decided to extend its shows on Friday too. The time slot from 8 to 10:30 pm will be taken over by the shows that are running on weekdays.

With this, Jyoti aired at 8.30 PM, Dehleez at 9 PM, Ramayan at 9.30 PM, Bandini at 10 PM and Kitani Mohabbat Hai at 10.30 PM will now run five days a week, including Friday.

Talking about Saturdays, our source adds, "The channel has Ghar Ki Baat Hai on Saturday and a blockbuster movie that covers the evening slot. There are many shows in the pipeline, but things will only get clear after IPL finishes".

We tried messaging Shailja Kejriwal, EVP - Content, NDTV Imagine for a confirmation, but she was unavailable for comments.

Gaurav Khanna to return to Jeevan Saathi?

His death shocked his admirers but if things go as planned Gaurav Khanna may well return to Colors show Jeevan Saathi.

As per sources, Gaurav will return in a new avatar. It must be recalled that Neil, the character that Gaurav played earlier was killed. And, he was cremated too. So, Gaurav will indeed comeback in a new avatar.

When contacted, Khanna said, “I cannot tell you anything now. Talks are on and I’ll speak once anything materialises.”

Producer Hemal Thakkar (Playtime Creations) says, “We haven’t decided on it yet. If Gaurav is to return then that will not happen immediately. The current track is doing very well so we’ll stick with it for some more time.”

Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum is a story set around a Gujarati family residing in Baroda-the Popat family. The head of the family, Ambalal (Firoz Irani) has two sons, Mansukh (Ashiesh Roy) and Bhallu (Manoj Goel), with their respective wives and children. Though the family stays together, they are completely divided with respect to their approach and attitude towards life. The show features other actors like Harshada Khandvilkar, Priti Joshi, Piyush Ranade, Sheetal Thakkar, Srman Jain, Ashutosh Kulkarni, Shruti Bafna, Ritu Parmar, Prasad Barwe, Bijal Batvia and Nitin Jain playing members of the Popat family.

Zee TV is proud to present its latest offering 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo', which is the story of seventeen year old Laali's optimism about life and her courage and compassion when it comes to rescuing her family from the throes of hunger and abject poverty. The lead role of the girl who embodies all these virtues and is strong enough to protect her family and loved ones is a relatively fresh face Ratan Rajput. The show produced by Swastik Pictures premieres on 16th March, every Mon-Thurs at 9.30pm only on Zee TV.

The term poverty is a relative concept. Even after more than 50 years of Independence, India still has the world's largest number of poor people in a single country. In a small town in Bihar is a minority Dalit race called the 'Musahar' who by profession are rat killers and which is their only means of survival. To this race belongs a family of six that forms the subject of this new show.

On one hand where the show talks about poverty, on the other it also highlights the fact that in this male dominated society, a woman has not lost her identity and has the ability to overcome barriers. Our lead protagonist, Laali, sets an example by supporting her father to run the family. The show shatters the age old myth about women being looked down upon in Indian society and at the same time brings to viewers 'another' India where people have to fight hard to house one square meal a day.

In the background of poverty, the extreme sacrifices that Laali makes is a moving story. This seventeen year old girl lives with her parents and her younger siblings in a village called Koyna in Bihar. They come from a low cast background and by profession are rat killers or 'Musahars' who help the Zamindars to protect their land and homes from infestation. The father scrapes together a small income and the girl does odd jobs around the village to support him. And like any other girl of her age, she also dreams of a happy life after her marriage to a man who loves her. So will her dreams ever come true after a life of struggle and disappointments? Will her father be able to fulfill his daughter's desires after he has seen her give up her childhood to help him meet ends?

Neha Desai turns negative in Woh Rehne Wali

Neha Desai who entered Rajshri Productions' show on Sahara One, Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki recently turns out to be a 'Naachnewali' with a dark past.

She gets married to Rishabh's brother Varun played by Faisal Gazi, but the story will take a twist when she reveals her real color to the family.

According to our source, "Payal has been planted by Taiji to bring in problems between the brothers. Payal is actually in love with Rishabh's youngest brother, Virat and enters the house to get close to him. Her character will turn negative now".

With this, Neha Desai who was earlier seen in Grihasti and Ranbir Rano will be playing a negative role for the first time in television. "Yes, this is a big challenge for me as I play grey for the first time. I am so lucky that I am getting a chance to portray various shades in just two weeks. Viewers will now get shocks after shocks as they see my character change", quips Neha Desai.

"The fact that she is a prostitute is not the only twist in the tale, as Payal's main intention to get into the house is to get close to Virat. Payal has been in love with Virat from her Khote days. Also, she will try to bring in a rift between brothers and she plans to split the family", adds Neha.

Well, it looks as though Rani has a real battle in hand now!!

Garima Ajmani enters Meet Mila De Rabba

Garima Ajmani who was earlier seen in serials like F.I. R., Zaara, Bhabhi and Kismat Ka Khel will now be entering Sony's Meet Mila De Rabba.

She will enter in either the Monday or Tuesday's episode. There is a very interesting track ahead where Garima plays a devout Muslim girl Zara.

She has begun shooting for the show. Her character is named Zara who is a girl across the border in Pakistan who helps Kulwant (Piyush Sahdev) to reach his country.Not much details about the track is revealed, but it will pave way for some interesting happenings in the serial. Both Kulwant and Zara will help each other in the track ahead.

Talking about the role,Garima took this show as she looks forward to playing a Muslim girl.She will be playing a Muslim for the first time and this is one reason why she took the role.

With the entry of this parallel lead, there seems to be some tough times coming for Geet!!

Jhalak bids adieu to...

The male contestants surely did perform better than the fairer sex this week in Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. After Bhagyashree's exit last week, this week's Elimination Special on Saturday sees yet another shocker of a result as the very adorable magician Ugesh Sarcar gets unlucky this time.

Ugesh and Anand Raj Anand were in the bottom two and had to go through the Face-Off where they perform on their previous act again. While Anand Raj came up with a steady performance, Ugesh who performed marvelously well in the episode, forgot his steps and the entire act got bit weird. This made the judges' decision easier, as the choreographer duo Saroj Khan and Vaibhavi voted for Anand Raj Anand. When it was Juhi's turn, she was heard saying that it was fair enough that Anand Raj Anand stays in the race, now that Ugesh forgot his steps in the face-off.

Ugesh Sarcar performed on the Hrithik number and got into the skin of the character so well in the episode that the judges had then praised him for his body language and the sensational magic cum dance that he exhibited. But it was indeed a sad moment when Ugesh could not reproduce the same magic on stage in the Face-Off.

The very talented magician will surely be missed on the Jhalak stage...

From next week onwards, the journey gets tougher in the Jhalak House as the contestants get to perform on various International dance forms. Unlike the last two weeks, both the male and female contestants will be seen grooving next Friday.

Tuj Sang to go off air on April 10th

Star Plus' Tuj Sang Preet Lagaayi Sajna of Balaji Telefilms has been facing flak of late due to its low numbers, but if sources are to be believed, there is a high chance of the show going off air in April.

"Recently, Tuj Sang was tossed from its 10 PM prime time slot to the afternoon band, and will be aired from March 16th at the 1 PM slot, replacing Kumkum. But this might only be a temporary phase, as the channel has now taken a final call to end the show", quips our source.

As reported earlier, Tuj Sang had received two prior warnings from the channel to deliver, but nothing worked right for the unit.

Lead actor Pooja Bose accepted that she has heard of the news of the show going off air, but said, "I have not got a confirmation from either the channel or the production house".

However, when we called Keertan Adhyantaya, GM and EVP, Star Plus for a confirmation on the same he said, "The show has been shifted to the afternoon slot, and till now we have not decided anything about the termination of the show".

We messaged Ekta Kapoor asking the same, but she replied with a text message that read, "Tuj Sang is moving to an afternoon slot, but its not ending".

However an actor on terms of anonymity confirmed to us that , "The show will be going off air on April 10th, and this is the news we have got".

It looks as though Ekta Kapoor is going through a very critical phase, as the Queen of Soaps who once had lot many shows in her kitty on Star Plus will now be left with just Kis Desh to deal with if this news comes true..

For now, it looks like viewers will get to see Tuj Sang at the 1 PM slot for the next few weeks.I don't understand yaar what is going on in the channel heads' mind,why cant they make up their mind....

NDTV Imagine's Jasuben to bid adieu..

After Radha Ki Betiyaan and Main Teri Parchhain, Jasuben Jayantilal Joshi ki Joint Family produced by Hats Off Productions will be the next show to go off air on NDTV Imagine!!

Confirming this news is our source, "Jasuben will be winding up on 28th of March and the final day of shoot will be March 20th".

"Jasuben which was earlier shifted from a daily to a weekend slot could not pull in better TRP's, so the channel has decided to shut shop", adds our source.

We tried contacting J.D. Majethia of Hats Off for a confirmation but he said, "I cannot comment on it right now".

However, an actor from the Jasuben clan on terms of anonymity confirmed this news and said, "We have been intimated of the show going off air".

We tried messaging Shailja Kejriwal, EVP - Content, NDTV Imagine, but she was unavailable for comments.

Juhi Parmar on SAB TV

The vivacious bahu of Indian television, Juhi Parmar is all set for her first comedy show on SAB TV. After Kumkum, it seems the actress wants to try her hand on fiction comedy and tickle the funny bones of her fans, especially after the success she got with Comedy Circus.

Confirming this news is Anooj Kapoor, Programming Head, SAB TV, "Yes Juhi will soon be part of our family. She will be seen in a courtroom comedy drama, but that may be after IPL".

As of now, the gorgeous actress who has recently got married is all set for a lavish honeymoon with hubby, Sachin Shroff.

Alongside, SAB TV has also lined up many shows. "We have another show based on hospital comedy. SAB is known for its different and unique concepts and we cater what the audience is looking forward to" he adds.

Jaspal Bhatti and Shekher Suman are the other faces that will be part of the channel. "Yes they will also be seen on SAB soon, but we are yet to decide the format for the show. Things are in the initial stages," he quips.

When asked about comedy reality show,he quips "We are planning that too, but again its too early to talk about it. Things will get clear only after IPL matches end, i.e. in June or July".

So viewers, get ready for some more dhamaal with your favorite celebs as they tickle your funny bones.

"Bhagya Vidhata" New Show on COLORS

COLORS' new show Sabki Jodi Wahi Banata.. Bhagya Vidhata, produced by Shreya Creations is about marriage on the lines of 'Terror', wherein the marriage takes place with the groom placed at gun point by the girl's family and well-wishers. The show was earlier titled 'Reet'.

This horrifying custom is followed in the North, especially in Bihar wherein arrangements for the marriage happen as usual with all the rituals, starting from Mehendi to Sangeet taking place normally. The only difference is that only few elders in the girl's family will know who the groom is, and who they have to kidnap at gun point before the muhurat. After the marriage is over, the girl's family performs the 'Bidaai' and leave the girl at the boy's place. The muscle men of the girl's family threaten the boy's family to accept the girl into their house; otherwise they would end up killing the boy".

The girls' families in Bihar are forced to conduct such marriages due to the prevailing dowry system wherein the boys demand for huge money, failing which the marriage usually does not take place. Forced by poverty, the girls' family take the path of crime to get their daughters wedded.

Bhagya Vidhata is the journey of one such girl who is married under these circumstances. The girl will have to go through a miserable life wherein she is not accepted as the Bahu or Wife of the house.

On the cast of the show will include a newcomer by name Richa Soni will play the female lead, while the male lead has not been finalized yet. Atul Srivastava who was earlier seen in Kareena Kareena plays the girl's father and a lesser known actress Meena Nathani plays her mother. Another newcomer Pooja Yadav will play sister to the female lead.

The family of the boy has not been finalized yet as of now. But we will update on that later.
