Ali Merchant back in Yeh Rishta..

Remember the character of Rituraj, played by Ali Merchant who was the first guy in Akshara aka Hina Khan's life in Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, produced by Rajan Shahi.

The actor essayed a cameo role earlier wherein he succeeded in bringing out the feelings of love in Akshara. And now when Akshara is all set for marriage with Naitik (Karan Mehra), her first love reappears!!

Yes, you heard it right!! Ali Merchant is back in Yeh Rishtha, and this brings a new twist in the tale!!

According to our source, "Engagement preparations are on when we see the reappearance of Rituraj. This gives rise to a complex situation as he happens to be the first guy in the life of Akshara. She will go thro' all the troubled moments upon seeing him, and the fact that Naitik is not aware of Rituraj and Akshara's earlier relationship will add on to the situation".

Earlier, Rituraj and Akshara had seen each other, and the alliance was almost finalized, when the guy decided to call it off, as he was not convinced with Akshara's desire to seek a future in singing.

Will Rituraj's comeback create a problem in the relationship of Naitik and Akshara? What role will Rituraj have to play in such a situation?

Mink enters Sarkaar Ki Duniya..

Mink who was last seen in COLORS' Dancing Queen will now be entering REAL TV's Sarkaar Ki Duniya as Wild Card Entry.

Talking about her entry in the show, Mink says, "REAL channel wanted one celebrity wild card for the show, and they approached me. I am basically a very private person, comfortable in my own life. So I thought this is the best opportunity to explore myself. Through this reality, I will get a chance to test my patience level, and will also be making food for myself (smiles)".

When asked whether she is worried about her image being hampered in the show, she quips, "I think all is up to me and all matters on how I behave there. As I told you earlier, I am very good in behavior, so I will not have any problems".

On her disappointing exit in Dancing Queen Mink verbalizes, "The show was a dance reality show where I had the responsibility to teach my team mate the qualities that a dancing queen will possess. Basically, she had to be good in behavior, dressing and dancing. Unfortunately, I got a partner who was mentally sick; a person who did not have any manners, who would end up fighting with everyone. I am happy that I got rid of her".

Well, we just hope Mink has a better time in this reality show..

Love Ne Milaa Di Jodi to launch on 17th June on Star One..

Star One's tale of three brothers and three sisters, 'Love Ne Milaa Di Jodi', produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms, featuring Gaurav Khanna, Chandana Sharma, Karan Tacker, Dishank Arora, Parmeet and Simran will launch on 17th June at 9.30 PM in Monday to Friday slot.

This means Shakuntala, the periodic love story coming from Sagar Pictures which was aired at two slots 8 PM as well as 9.30 PM will now be shown only at the 8 PM slot.

Confirming this, Amrit Sagar of Sagar Pictures says, "Shakuntala was aired at the time slots 8 PM and 9.30 PM. The channel felt that 8 PM is a better slot for the periodic show and we will be sticking to that, while the channel will be launching a new show at the 9.30 PM slot".

We called Neelima Bajpai of Shakuntalam Telefilms, but she was unaware of the time slot given to her show, and said, "I have no idea about the time slot; please talk to the channel for this".

Love Ne Milaa Di Jodi, as reported earlier is the tale of three brothers and three sisters who have a set plan in mind, but things do not happen as per their plans. And as the theme of the show aptly suggests, 'Plan main nahi thi love story, par love ne milaadi Jodi'".

Burey Bhi Hum moved to 7 PM slot..

As reported earlier, Hats Off's Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum on Star Plus, which presently holds the 7.30 PM time slot is making way for the new BAG Films show Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke.

According to our source from the production house, "Talks are on with the channel, and if all goes well we will be moving to the 7 PM slot from May 27th while Mitwa will take the 7.30 PM slot".

We talked to one of the actors from the show who on terms of anonymity said, "Yes, we have also heard from our team that the show is getting moved to the 7 PM slot".

Few days back, J.D. Majethia who is presently holidaying in Australia, had said, "We will be happy if the channel gives us a better slot".

We tried calling Co-Producer Aatish Kapadia, but he too replied to us in message saying "He is out of town on a vacation, and can talk about this only after getting back".

Hope the new time slot provided gives some impetus to the show...

'Three Brothers' on Star One...

Shakuntalam Telefilms' Three Brothers on Star One will be a love story with a back drop of mystery in it...

Shakuntalam Telefilms' new show on Star One, 'Three Brothers' will feature a mix of known as well as fresh faces.

The show is a love story with a thriller element to it. The whole ambiance of the show will be youth oriented; the story line will have a backdrop of mystery.

The story is about three brothers and three sisters who have a set plan in mind, but things do not happen as per their plans. And as the theme of the show aptly suggests, 'Plan main nahi thi love story, par love ne milaadi Jodi.

Gaurav Khanna who was part of Shakuntalam's Santaan will play the eldest brother, Prithvi. The middle brother is played by Karan Tacker who is presently seen hosting Star Plus' weekend show Star Sansaar. The youngest brother is played by new face Dishank Arora. Among the girls, Chandana Sharma plays the eldest sister, while new faces Parmeet and Simran essay the roles of her sisters.

Gaurav Khanna plays an earthy character, a character which he has never played before. He essays a stiff character and his look is also totally different, with a western style given to it.

Chandana Sharma will play the girl opposite Gaurav. "Chandana plays the character of Damini. Karan is cast opposite Parmeet whose screen name will be Avni", adds our source.

Karan Tacker plays the middle brother Sameer. He is a fun loving character, and is also a family oriented guy. He is a complete flirt who goes behind women of all ages. His only aim in life is to make quick money.

Totally unlike Sameer is the youngest of the brothers, Varun which is played by Dishank Arora. He is more into studies, and is a talented student in college. All the girls woo for him, but he stays away from girls. Varun is cast opposite Roshni, played by Simran who is a hip-hop kind of girl.

The show will be launched in June, but the date and time slot has not been finalized yet.

Baichung Bhutia wins Jhalak..

Indian football captain, Baichung Bhutia and his choreographer Sonia have lifted Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 trophy. The lanky Sikkimese dude who initially had hiccups in getting his emotions right on stage beat the talented dancer Gauhar Khan and the crowd favorite Karan Singh Grover, in the finale which was recorded late last night and went on to become the First Male Winner of Jhalak!!

The Grand Finale will be telecasted next Sunday night. "Most finals are usually telecast deferred live, but this had to be delayed because tonight's IPL Finale was being aired live on the sister network of Sony", says a source.

Coming to yesterday's finale, Savio Barnes, choreographer of Hard Kaur told us, "The audiences SMS vote overturned the judges' markings which had favored Gauhar. They selected the second best Baichung as their winner and kept Karan Singh as the third finalist, just like the teen deviyaan".

"There was no face off round between the top two and the audience vote selected Baichung", confirms our source from the sets. Our khabru went on to state that when the top two names were announced, everybody was surprised because it was expected that Karan will get most votes.

Although Savio admitted that Gauhar was a better dancer, he felt "Baichung deserved to win as he had showed remarkable growth and had reached this stage from being a complete non-dancer. Gauhar on the other hand is a good dancer, and she had trained with me too in the past".

On Karan our source says, "There was no growth; he remained where he was right from round one".

Savio who was quite depressed at losing out in the semi finals felt much better when the channel and the jury gave him and Hard Kaur, the Best Dancers' trophy, a replica of the winning trophy, after telling them that this was not out of sympathy, but because they deserved it.

Well, the moment of truth is that the Jhalak trophy belongs to Baichung!! Three cheers to the guy...

Sushant Singh Rajput, male lead of Pavitra Rishtha..

Sushant Singh Rajput, one of the chocolate boys of television who essays the role of Preet in Star Plus' Kis Desh Main Hai Mera Dil has bagged the meaty role of the lead in Balaji Telefilms' upcoming show, Pavitra Rishtha on Zee TV.

As reported earlier, Ankita Lokhande essays the role of the protagonist Archana, who is from the middle class society, well past her marriageable age, and is not getting a good match as she is not well-educated.

Sushant is cast opposite Ankita, and he plays the character of Manav who is from a lower middle class family. He is a family oriented guy, a person who can do anything for his people. He works in a garage, and helps run his family. He dotes on his parents, brother and sister and loves them a lot. In other words, he is basically a Lord Ram like character who is a sincere son and brother.

As reported earlier, Raj Singh who was seen in Jyoti and Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat plays Manav's brother, Swati Anand of Kasamh Se fame plays his bhabhi and Yamini of Tuj Sang fame plays his sister.

Sushant plays the adorable brother of Prem (Harshad Chopra) in Kis Desh.

Pavitra Rishtha on Zee TV launches on 1st June at the 9 PM slot..

Diya Chopra out of Hindi Hai Hum..

Diya Chopra who played the character of Loveline in Swastik Pictures' Hindi Hai Hum on REAL TV is no more part of the show, and the buzz is that her unprofessional behavior forced the production house to look for a replacement.

According to the source, "The girl never used to turn up for shoot, and she used to pack-up at her own will. The production house had a tough time dealing with her tantrums, and they were forced to call the shots".

The Creative Director and Producer Siddharth Tewary said, "It is true that she is not longer part of the show. But I do not want to talk further".

However, Diya Chopra who has just got back to Mumbai said, "There was no such hungama between me and the production house. It was just that I was caught up with some personal work for the past two weeks, and could not attend shoot. Even now, I have just got back to Mumbai and will be travelling again the coming month. I had a talk with them, and the decision to opt out was taken amicably".

FIR inspector Chamdramukhi Chautala will woo John Abraham

Rough and tough inspector Chandramukhi Chautala from Sab Tv’s FIR will now flaunt her feminine oomph on big screen. She is busy shooting all these days for the film ‘Film city’ opposite Bollywood’s coolest hunk John Abraham. Though she is on cloud nine from the time she has bagged the role but she maintains absolute silence about her debut character on big screen as of now. But she has hint that she is in the movie for glamour quotient and it is the story of people who are influenced by the film industry.

Despite the fact that her excitement is at the peak about her first big screen appearance, she is loyal to her first medium that is TV. She has no plans to quit TV to make big in Bollywood. “FIR goes on and I am in talks for hosting another reality show as well. If dates work out I might accept it” she confirms.

She was last seen anchoring ‘Arre Diwaano Mujhe Pehchaano’ on star plus which bombed very badly besides big names and faces involved with the show. Kavita defends her stand saying “See we anchor’s are not a very important part of reality show. Our job is just to take things forward, what finally matters are the contestants. Arre Deewano failed because there were a lot of problems among the participants. They just could not get along with each other”.

Mona Singh ready for makeover on Bindaas...

Ugly duckling turned swan, Jassi aka Mona Singh will kick start a new reality show on Bindaas called Blue Carpet. This weekly series will witness ordinary young girls going through make-overs. Mona will be the first and only celeb contestant to undergo a transformation albeit a mild one.

Talking about the experience, she says "It is unique as she has never undergone a make over in real life i.e. changing her hair style and wardrobe. I have never had my hair colored under a panel of experts. My character had experienced the same in Jassi though. She also finds no comparison with her other show Extreme Makeover for there, you had victims with serious injuries getting a new lease of life".

Mona also had lot of fun shooting for this coming Friday's Jhalak Wild card episode. "I took everybody's case royally. I wanted to anchor this season as well, but date issues prevented the same". She did not want to comment on Shiv Pandit's ouster as anchor. "If the channel has decided about the same, they must have had a valid reason. Rohit Roy is a great anchor, and he also has more years of TV experience behind him", states she.

She believes that Ram Kapoor has a good chance to return in the Wild card as he has a strong vote bank. "Agreed he is more entertainment than dance, but this show needs some fun, not all should be as serious as Gauhar. Plus this show is not about real dancers but about people who are learning to dance", states the actress. Asked to comment on the difference between all the three seasons, she quips "During our time there was more ball room dancing but now it's more Bollywood. Also this time things are tougher due to the Face off. I would have shuddered to take part in the same as I still maintain that I am not a good dancer", says the winner of Jhalak Season 1.

Mona is also quite busy with the shooting of her upcoming film, 3 Idiots. "We have finished three schedules and will soon leave for the next. It's quite chilled out compared to TV as nobody is in a hurry to dispatch tapes", she adds.

As for television, she will soon do one more reality show for a major channel.

Tie between Gauhar and Baichung..

Gauhar and Baichung remain inseparable this week in terms of points, courtesy their fabulous performances..

The pre-finale tension is mounting on Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as Gauhar Khan and Baichung Bhutia are trying hard to out beat the other on the dance floor!!

3ccording to our source, "Both Baichung and Gauhar gave their best performance this week, and the judges found it difficult to rate them. The level of competition amongst both is so high that they could not be separated even in points, as they ended up a tie".

Elaborating on the performance of Gauhar our informer adds, "She was perfect and her attitude portrayed that she deserved to win. Her Kisna act was very much appreciated by the judges. She was dressed in the attire of Krishna and gave a powerful performance and fetched good marks".

Baichung was equally good.Baichung and Sonia performed on the rumba act and it was a nice sight to watch. The dance involved risk as they jigged on top of two tables and a chair which they used as props. Sonia was fabulous as she jumped from one place to another.

Prabhu Deva too liked both their performances. "He was amazed to see Baichung dancing and grooving with Sonia", concludes the source.

The countdown has now begun to crown the Dancing Sensation in the Third Season of Jhalak.. May the best win..

Rupali Ganguly to do a cameo in Aapki Antara..

Rupali Ganguly who was seen in Zara Nachke Dikha will be seen portraying a very important cameo in Zee's upcoming show, Aapki Antara, produced by Drishtanth Productions.

According to our reliable source, "The little kid Antara is born an autistic child, and her biological mother is played by Rupali Ganguly. She will be seen in a very brief cameo lasting two episodes".

"She is a single mother, who gets the shock of her life when she gets to know that her child is autistic. Rupali will be seen in the first two episodes of the show. The mother is forced by situations wherein she leaves her child, and this is where Vidya (Prabhleen Sandhu) and her husband come into the picture", adds our source.

Prabhleen Sandhu and Darshan essay Antara's parents, but the fact remains that she is not their biological child.

We called Rupali to know about her character, but she refused to talk much. "I am playing a cameo here, but I can say nothing more than this".

Aapki Antara which is the tale of a special child launches on June 1st at the 8.30 PM slot on Zee TV…

Well, this is one show that seems to have all the ingredients to be termed unique.. Let's see how the audience reacts to it..

Priya Marathe in Pavitra Rishtha..

Balaji Telefilms' upcoming show on Zee TV, Pavitra Rishtha as reported earlier is the remake of a popular mega serial down South, Thirumathi Selvam.

This romantic story will have the typical flavor of middle class to lower middle class Maharashtrian families. And as reported earlier, Ankita Lokhande who was earlier seen in Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj plays the main lead, Archana.

Here's more information on the cast, the protagonist has two sisters and a brother in the story. Priya Marathe who was earlier seen playing the role of Vidya Bali in Kasamh Se will play the parallel lead in the show. She essays the character of Varsha who is one of the sisters of the protagonist, Archana. The actress is presently doing a cameo in Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum.

Priya elaborated on her character, "Varsha is well-educated when compared to Archana. She is a homely, yet working girl and is a total contrast to her sister in terms of personality. Archana on the other hand, is not educated and is not an earning member in the family".

Archana has a brother, and this character will be played by Parag Tyagi. Swati Anand who played the role of Rashi in Kasamh Se plays his wife who will have a negative shade to portray. The youngest sister's role will be played by Prarthana who was earlier seen in Koi Aane Ko Hai. Her screen name is Vaishali. And as the promos suggest, Savitha Prabhune and Ajay Rohila play the parents.

As the story moves on, the male lead's family will be introduced. The male lead is yet to be finalized, but his character name will be Manav. He will have a brother and sister. The brother's role will be played by Raj Singh who was seen in Jyoti and Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. His screen name is Sachin and he will have a grey shade to his character. Yamini who was seen in Tuj Sang Preet Lagaayi Sajna will play sister to the male lead. The actors to play parents of the boy have not been finalized yet.

The show will launch on June 1st at the 9 PM slot..

Simple Kaul enters Namak Haraam..

After the entry of Aman Verma, Simple Kaul will soon be seen on REAL's show Namak Haram. She is entering as the parallel lead and has a powerful character of a business woman to portray.

Talking about her role, Simple says "I am essaying a very positive role in the show; I play the Managing Director of a foreign based company. This is not a cameo but a good character role."

Elaborating on her storyline she quips "I am here to start a project with Karan Sagar (Sachin Tyagi). My character is very similar to that of Swati when it comes to thought process. We both differ only in looks; while I pose a western look, Swati is very Indian in dressing".

"I have come into the picture for some purpose which I cannot reveal now. All I can say is that my role is very matured and dignified, and I am happy to have bagged it", she concludes.

Simple is excited about her other project Maniben.com too, which launches soon on SAB TV.

Zaynah to play Antara..

The wait is finally over, as the channel and production house have found their perfect kid to play the special child in Zee's upcoming show, Aapki Antara, produced by Drishthant Productions!!

As it was reported earlier, the promos on air showed a different girl Apple Reetoria Rishi as the central character. But it was heard that the production house and channel were looking for more options.

According to our source, "The wait is over now, and a little girl by name Zaynah will be seen as Antara in the show. There will be two more kids who will be important to the story line; one will be Antara's elder brother and the other a kid living in the same society. The boys to play the two roles will be Arav Velhal and Raj Simaria. All the kids are relatively fresh to television, and have been part of few ads".

The show has Prabhleen Sandhu, Darshan, Sujata Kumar playing pivotal roles.

If sources are to be believed, Antara plays an autistic child in the show. However, when we had earlier raised this question to the producer, he had rubbished this.

The show launches on Zee TV on June 1st, at the 8.30 PM slot..

Roshni Chopra to host India's Got Talent..

Sometime back there was a news that Roshni Chopra might anchor Rakhi Ka Swaymar on NDTV Imagine, but now we have the girl herself saying that she is not doing the show.

"I was indeed approached but then the dates collided with my US shows which were already penciled in, hence I had to opt out", says Roshni. However, she has passed on her best wishes to Rakhi thro' a promo she shot recently for the show.

Roshni will now be seen in yet another big budget reality show and we have her talking about it. "You can soon see me hosting COLORS' India Got Talent. This reality show will have three anchors including me, the other two being Nikhil Chinnappa and Ayushmann Khurana. I will host a special segment called 'India has got more talent'", explains Roshni.

However, she refused to talk more about it saying, "You will have to check it out for yourself. I have just returned from multi-city auditions and am pleasantly shocked to see the extent of talent that people have. This international format is a far cry from the song and dance routine to which TV had got stuck in for some time".

Lastly, talking about her look, she says "I have a never before avatar. Earlier you had seen me in dresses and in a studio environment, but be prepared for some different here".

India's Got Talent will be produced by Synergy Adlabs.

Mitwa to compete against Choti Bahu..

Hats Off and Star Plus' Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum is all set for a change in time slot. This show will be replaced by BAG Films' Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke, which was earlier slotted for the afternoon band.

The channel has thoughts of providing a counter attack with Mitwa to Zee TV's Choti Bahu which is doing well at the 7.30 PM slot. The lavish manner in which the show is being shot now also indicates to the fact that Mitwa might get an early evening slot rather than being placed in the afternoon band. Mitwa is most likely launching on 27th May and will take up the 7.30 PM slot.

This development actually leaves Hats Off's Burey Bhi Hum which presently occupies the 7.30 PM slot in a fix.

The Co-Producer Aatish Kapadia comments on this, he said, "I am out of Mumbai and have no clue on the same. If the time slot is changing then everything must have been internally decided. I am sure that the channel will give us a better time slot if this happens".

The show Burey Bhi Hum… was not delivering the required TRP's and the channel wanted to do well in the time slot, especially with heavy competition coming from Choti Bahu.

The channel is trying to fit in Burey Bhi Hum at a better time slot, but nothing is finalized yet. The concept of the show is good but the evening band is not fetching them the needed results.

Sony unveils new line-up of programming..

On the heels of IPL ending, Sony Entertainment Television is all set to over haul its entire programming matrix.

Danish Khan, Marketing Head, Sony unveiled the long awaited new line-up which will premiere from the 25th of May. "We will launch 5 new daily shows(Four fiction and One non-fiction) all on the same day. Historical drama, Chittod Ki Rani Padmini will air at 8 PM. Sports based saga Palampur Express debuts at 8.30 PM. Bhaskar Bharti will be aired at 9 PM and Ladies Special at 9.30 PM. A big ticket non-fiction talent hunt show, 'Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega' produced by Wizcraft where contestants will have to prove their talent outside of singing and dancing, featuring Farah Khan and Annu Malek as judges will air at 10 PM. The above mentioned fiction series will air from Monday to Thursday while the non-fiction show will be seen from Monday-Friday".

Danish further said, "We have new presentations on the weekend band as well. Salman Khan's 'Dus Ka Dum' will air every Saturday starting 1st June at the 9 PM slot. There will also be another non-fiction show on the grounds of Comedy Circus on Fridays produced by Optimistyx, titled 'Dekh India Dekh' which will launch in end May".

According to our source, Boogie Woogie and CID are the only properties to have survived the overhaul, as they give good ratings. The former dance show will air on Friday and Saturday at 8 PM while the latter long running detective saga is yet to be given a time slot.

Explaining the logic behind the revamp, Danish says "The entire change reflects our knowledge that the market and audience profile is changing and we have to be in tune".

He further says, "As per our new strategy, we wanted to come up with never-tried-before programming. The audience also wants something novel every time, hence each of our new offerings is of a completely different genre from the other. This is the only the first step, as we have many other shows lined up as well".

All eyes will surely be glued to the New Look Sony...

The character I play on the show is very different from what I have done earlier, which makes it even more exciting for me. Rohit Malhotra was a dear friend of Karan (Sachin Tyagi) during their college days. They lose touch when Karan goes abroad to pursue his higher studies. Never serious about his career and life, Rohit's only philosophy is to have fun. He flirts with girls, picks up fights and bullies other people!

One day, while he is at his usual antics, he troubles an innocent girl. Swati (Narayani Shastri) comes to the girl's rescue and slaps him. This opens up his eyes! Not only does he change as a person, but he falls in love with Swati. When Swati sees this change, she befriends him and they start spending time together.
