Zee TV is proud to present its latest offering 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo', which is the story of seventeen year old Laali's optimism about life and her courage and compassion when it comes to rescuing her family from the throes of hunger and abject poverty. The lead role of the girl who embodies all these virtues and is strong enough to protect her family and loved ones is a relatively fresh face Ratan Rajput. The show produced by Swastik Pictures premieres on 16th March, every Mon-Thurs at 9.30pm only on Zee TV.

The term poverty is a relative concept. Even after more than 50 years of Independence, India still has the world's largest number of poor people in a single country. In a small town in Bihar is a minority Dalit race called the 'Musahar' who by profession are rat killers and which is their only means of survival. To this race belongs a family of six that forms the subject of this new show.

On one hand where the show talks about poverty, on the other it also highlights the fact that in this male dominated society, a woman has not lost her identity and has the ability to overcome barriers. Our lead protagonist, Laali, sets an example by supporting her father to run the family. The show shatters the age old myth about women being looked down upon in Indian society and at the same time brings to viewers 'another' India where people have to fight hard to house one square meal a day.

In the background of poverty, the extreme sacrifices that Laali makes is a moving story. This seventeen year old girl lives with her parents and her younger siblings in a village called Koyna in Bihar. They come from a low cast background and by profession are rat killers or 'Musahars' who help the Zamindars to protect their land and homes from infestation. The father scrapes together a small income and the girl does odd jobs around the village to support him. And like any other girl of her age, she also dreams of a happy life after her marriage to a man who loves her. So will her dreams ever come true after a life of struggle and disappointments? Will her father be able to fulfill his daughter's desires after he has seen her give up her childhood to help him meet ends?

Neha Desai turns negative in Woh Rehne Wali

Neha Desai who entered Rajshri Productions' show on Sahara One, Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki recently turns out to be a 'Naachnewali' with a dark past.

She gets married to Rishabh's brother Varun played by Faisal Gazi, but the story will take a twist when she reveals her real color to the family.

According to our source, "Payal has been planted by Taiji to bring in problems between the brothers. Payal is actually in love with Rishabh's youngest brother, Virat and enters the house to get close to him. Her character will turn negative now".

With this, Neha Desai who was earlier seen in Grihasti and Ranbir Rano will be playing a negative role for the first time in television. "Yes, this is a big challenge for me as I play grey for the first time. I am so lucky that I am getting a chance to portray various shades in just two weeks. Viewers will now get shocks after shocks as they see my character change", quips Neha Desai.

"The fact that she is a prostitute is not the only twist in the tale, as Payal's main intention to get into the house is to get close to Virat. Payal has been in love with Virat from her Khote days. Also, she will try to bring in a rift between brothers and she plans to split the family", adds Neha.

Well, it looks as though Rani has a real battle in hand now!!

Garima Ajmani enters Meet Mila De Rabba

Garima Ajmani who was earlier seen in serials like F.I. R., Zaara, Bhabhi and Kismat Ka Khel will now be entering Sony's Meet Mila De Rabba.

She will enter in either the Monday or Tuesday's episode. There is a very interesting track ahead where Garima plays a devout Muslim girl Zara.

She has begun shooting for the show. Her character is named Zara who is a girl across the border in Pakistan who helps Kulwant (Piyush Sahdev) to reach his country.Not much details about the track is revealed, but it will pave way for some interesting happenings in the serial. Both Kulwant and Zara will help each other in the track ahead.

Talking about the role,Garima took this show as she looks forward to playing a Muslim girl.She will be playing a Muslim for the first time and this is one reason why she took the role.

With the entry of this parallel lead, there seems to be some tough times coming for Geet!!

Jhalak bids adieu to...

The male contestants surely did perform better than the fairer sex this week in Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. After Bhagyashree's exit last week, this week's Elimination Special on Saturday sees yet another shocker of a result as the very adorable magician Ugesh Sarcar gets unlucky this time.

Ugesh and Anand Raj Anand were in the bottom two and had to go through the Face-Off where they perform on their previous act again. While Anand Raj came up with a steady performance, Ugesh who performed marvelously well in the episode, forgot his steps and the entire act got bit weird. This made the judges' decision easier, as the choreographer duo Saroj Khan and Vaibhavi voted for Anand Raj Anand. When it was Juhi's turn, she was heard saying that it was fair enough that Anand Raj Anand stays in the race, now that Ugesh forgot his steps in the face-off.

Ugesh Sarcar performed on the Hrithik number and got into the skin of the character so well in the episode that the judges had then praised him for his body language and the sensational magic cum dance that he exhibited. But it was indeed a sad moment when Ugesh could not reproduce the same magic on stage in the Face-Off.

The very talented magician will surely be missed on the Jhalak stage...

From next week onwards, the journey gets tougher in the Jhalak House as the contestants get to perform on various International dance forms. Unlike the last two weeks, both the male and female contestants will be seen grooving next Friday.

Tuj Sang to go off air on April 10th

Star Plus' Tuj Sang Preet Lagaayi Sajna of Balaji Telefilms has been facing flak of late due to its low numbers, but if sources are to be believed, there is a high chance of the show going off air in April.

"Recently, Tuj Sang was tossed from its 10 PM prime time slot to the afternoon band, and will be aired from March 16th at the 1 PM slot, replacing Kumkum. But this might only be a temporary phase, as the channel has now taken a final call to end the show", quips our source.

As reported earlier, Tuj Sang had received two prior warnings from the channel to deliver, but nothing worked right for the unit.

Lead actor Pooja Bose accepted that she has heard of the news of the show going off air, but said, "I have not got a confirmation from either the channel or the production house".

However, when we called Keertan Adhyantaya, GM and EVP, Star Plus for a confirmation on the same he said, "The show has been shifted to the afternoon slot, and till now we have not decided anything about the termination of the show".

We messaged Ekta Kapoor asking the same, but she replied with a text message that read, "Tuj Sang is moving to an afternoon slot, but its not ending".

However an actor on terms of anonymity confirmed to us that , "The show will be going off air on April 10th, and this is the news we have got".

It looks as though Ekta Kapoor is going through a very critical phase, as the Queen of Soaps who once had lot many shows in her kitty on Star Plus will now be left with just Kis Desh to deal with if this news comes true..

For now, it looks like viewers will get to see Tuj Sang at the 1 PM slot for the next few weeks.I don't understand yaar what is going on in the channel heads' mind,why cant they make up their mind....

NDTV Imagine's Jasuben to bid adieu..

After Radha Ki Betiyaan and Main Teri Parchhain, Jasuben Jayantilal Joshi ki Joint Family produced by Hats Off Productions will be the next show to go off air on NDTV Imagine!!

Confirming this news is our source, "Jasuben will be winding up on 28th of March and the final day of shoot will be March 20th".

"Jasuben which was earlier shifted from a daily to a weekend slot could not pull in better TRP's, so the channel has decided to shut shop", adds our source.

We tried contacting J.D. Majethia of Hats Off for a confirmation but he said, "I cannot comment on it right now".

However, an actor from the Jasuben clan on terms of anonymity confirmed this news and said, "We have been intimated of the show going off air".

We tried messaging Shailja Kejriwal, EVP - Content, NDTV Imagine, but she was unavailable for comments.

Juhi Parmar on SAB TV

The vivacious bahu of Indian television, Juhi Parmar is all set for her first comedy show on SAB TV. After Kumkum, it seems the actress wants to try her hand on fiction comedy and tickle the funny bones of her fans, especially after the success she got with Comedy Circus.

Confirming this news is Anooj Kapoor, Programming Head, SAB TV, "Yes Juhi will soon be part of our family. She will be seen in a courtroom comedy drama, but that may be after IPL".

As of now, the gorgeous actress who has recently got married is all set for a lavish honeymoon with hubby, Sachin Shroff.

Alongside, SAB TV has also lined up many shows. "We have another show based on hospital comedy. SAB is known for its different and unique concepts and we cater what the audience is looking forward to" he adds.

Jaspal Bhatti and Shekher Suman are the other faces that will be part of the channel. "Yes they will also be seen on SAB soon, but we are yet to decide the format for the show. Things are in the initial stages," he quips.

When asked about comedy reality show,he quips "We are planning that too, but again its too early to talk about it. Things will get clear only after IPL matches end, i.e. in June or July".

So viewers, get ready for some more dhamaal with your favorite celebs as they tickle your funny bones.

"Bhagya Vidhata" New Show on COLORS

COLORS' new show Sabki Jodi Wahi Banata.. Bhagya Vidhata, produced by Shreya Creations is about marriage on the lines of 'Terror', wherein the marriage takes place with the groom placed at gun point by the girl's family and well-wishers. The show was earlier titled 'Reet'.

This horrifying custom is followed in the North, especially in Bihar wherein arrangements for the marriage happen as usual with all the rituals, starting from Mehendi to Sangeet taking place normally. The only difference is that only few elders in the girl's family will know who the groom is, and who they have to kidnap at gun point before the muhurat. After the marriage is over, the girl's family performs the 'Bidaai' and leave the girl at the boy's place. The muscle men of the girl's family threaten the boy's family to accept the girl into their house; otherwise they would end up killing the boy".

The girls' families in Bihar are forced to conduct such marriages due to the prevailing dowry system wherein the boys demand for huge money, failing which the marriage usually does not take place. Forced by poverty, the girls' family take the path of crime to get their daughters wedded.

Bhagya Vidhata is the journey of one such girl who is married under these circumstances. The girl will have to go through a miserable life wherein she is not accepted as the Bahu or Wife of the house.

On the cast of the show will include a newcomer by name Richa Soni will play the female lead, while the male lead has not been finalized yet. Atul Srivastava who was earlier seen in Kareena Kareena plays the girl's father and a lesser known actress Meena Nathani plays her mother. Another newcomer Pooja Yadav will play sister to the female lead.

The family of the boy has not been finalized yet as of now. But we will update on that later.

Actor Rajeev Khandelwal has been in news since his first flick 'Aamir' that got a critical acclaimation. After that though everyone knew that he has also been roped in for UTV Spotboy next 'Peter Gaya Kaam Se.'


Its known that the film was not getting its lead actress but finally they have got it. The lucky one being cast opposite Rajeev is Lekha Washington. She is the one who shot mainly as a host for IPL last year.



This will be her debut in Hindi cinema and before she has worked in few south films. In the movie she will deliver a role of a sassy NRI who returns back home.


Peter Gaya Kaam Se is directed by Britisher John Owen and the shooting is scheduled to start from 14th March in Goa.

Arjun Bijlani dislocates his shoulder..

Arjun Bijlani who plays Mayank in Star One's Miley Jab Hum Tum has dislocated his shoulder recently while he was shooting a fight scene for the show.

The actor was at the doctor's when we called him yesterday. "I was shooting a fight sequence when all of a sudden my shoulder snapped and came out of the socket. I was in terrible pain and could not even move my hand. But then, the cameraman somehow managed to push it back into the socket and I continued with the shoot. In fact, he had to push it back twice as it came out again after few minutes", quips Arjun.

The actor was so tired after the day's schedule that he could not see a doctor the same day. The next day he had to resume shoot as they were working cut-to-cut. "I packed up from shoot just now and I am waiting at the doctor's place. I have to get an MRI scan done tomorrow. It needs to be seen whether it is a muscle tear or something worse", explains the actor.

Arjun has got a break of three days in which he has to get better. "I will not be shooting for the next three days, and I hope to get better by then. But if there is any complication, I heard I might have to undergo physiotherapy for the next six months", says a worried Arjun.

In Miley Jab Hum Tum, the track is poised at a point wherein Mayank and Nupur (Rati Pandey) are slowly but steadily falling in love..

We hope Arjun is fit and fine soon, so that we can see more of Mayank-Nupur awesome chemistry on screen!!

Promos of Na Aana Is Desh Laado in trouble?

Few organizations had raised objections on the disturbing promos aired of the new COLORS' show on female infanticide, Na Aana Is Desh Laado.

The new show of COLORS channel, 'Na Aana Is Desh Laado' has just started yesterday and the show is already in controversy with its promo airing on the channel, wherein few organizations have raised questions on it.

As we know, the show focuses on female infanticide. The promo shows shocking scenes of a girl child being immersed in a big bowl of milk, with the hope that the same child would be reborn the next year as a boy. These scenes were really disturbing to the eyes. Hence few organizations had raised their voice against this to the channel.

We called up Shyamashis Bhattacharya of Shakuntalam Telefilms to know the truth, and he says, "There are no such controversies as far as I know. The promos portray the true picture and I know we need to present it in a lighter manner and we are planning for the same".

Will there be such scenes in the show too? "As I said the show talks about female infanticide and the fact is that such practices are still on in some places. There will be such scenes shown in the show, but not so horrifying that it hurts the sentiments of people. One needs to keep a continuity of the show to understand what message we want to pass on to the audience. All I can say is that Laado is a positive show", he adds.

However, as per our khabroo, "The channel did get calls raising questions on their promo, but now things are solved. Above all, as the show has launched there will be new promising promos shown of the show".

For the uninitiated, the other COLORS' show Uttaran too faced problems during its launch, and that was to do with the title of the show, which got cleared just weeks back.

We could not get any official comment on this from the channel though..

Whatever it is, even though the promos were bit disturbing, it seems as though it has caught the eye of the viewers. Now let's wait and see what verdict is passed by audience on the show!!

Grihasthi is going off air.

The popular show on Star Plus, Grihasthi is coming to an end. The show is getting off air on the 27th of March, 2009.

The creative head of Sphere Origins informs us, “The show is coming to an end on the 27th of this month. I personally went on the sets to break this news to everybody and trust me it was not easy to look into everyone’s eyes and say such a thing. The entire cast and crew was shocked and many had tears in their eyes too”.

We spoke to the artists of this much popular show and they too expressed their grief on the same.

Anand Suryavanshi, a main lead of the show was taken aback with the news, “This came like a shock to me. The mere thought of not being together after spending so much time with each other makes you drained. I will really miss this show and each and every one who is responsible and attached with this show”.

The other cast and crew were also no less when it came to depicting their unhappiness and emotional trauma of the show’s unfortunate end.

Shaleen, the winner of Nach Baliye 4 speaks his heart out to us, “If you tend to spend so many hours on the sets, naturally you bound by a unique force called friendship. We all are friends out here and the Grihasthi sets had become our second home. It was certainly the best time I ever had. I was so emotionally attached to everyone out here. When I was in Nach Baliye, I used to go back and ask people on the sets about my performance and stuffs. Everyone there would give me suggestions and tips and I used to follow it. I think there were innumerous people accountable for me winning Nach Baliye 4”.

Chavvi Mittal, who was a bit earlier informed that the show was going off air, was somewhat prepared but still doesn’t failed to express the amount of fun, frolic and peace this set had given her.

“The set was a family to us. People gave me a lot of suggestions and I always used to listen to them and keep that in mind. It was much of a picnic kind of environment where people were always in a mood of masti and stuffs. We played hard and worked harder. That was the spirit on the sets. All these things were emotionally attached to me. Still I did not cry; as I usually don’t get tears in my eyes. I guess the saying that, “If something ends, something good is waiting for you”, surely goes the way.

Karan Wahi's new show "Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari"

Karan Wahi who had first blasted on the TV screen as Ranveer in Star One’s youth cult show Remix is keeping his fingers crossed. For this dude’s long absence from the idiot box will end next week with the launch of Colour’s new show, Mere Ghar Aayi Ek Nanhi Pari. However he is not cent sure of his presence as the contract is yet to be signed “There are still some issues which need to be ironed out.” he says.

This DJ’ s Creative Unit show was first supposed to air on 9x, but because of problems with the latter channel, it was shifted to Colours. Karan says “Everything happens for the good as Colour assures us better ratings. The show is based on the concept of the importance of the girl child. Our theme is quite contemporary in the sense that many people these days want a female child, times are changing”.

Talking about his character, who’s name is yet to be confirmed, Karan says “He is a today’s guy who falls in love with the lead girl called Kusum . How our relationship goes on is the crux of the story. She being a only girl in the family is heavily protected by her relatives. And the best part is that there is big difference in our respective value systems". He goes on, “My character will make an appearance within the next 2/3 weeks. This delay is because the show begins with the Kusum being born. She will soon grow up . Its good that I did not make appearance then as I would have been charged with child molestation”, he jokes .

He further does not have much information about the change of the lead actress. The character of Kusum was first supposed to be essayed by Menka Lalwani, but now is being played by Mugdha Chapekar. “I have no clue as to the reason for this change, kindly ask the producer . Infact I had no idea about it till I went for the promo shoot.I had shot large portions with Menka so all that goes waste".

On his long absence from TV, Karan says, “After Remix, I did not want to do same old stuff and secondly I had considered a couple of films which unfortunately did not see the light of the day. Agreed out of sight is out of mind but even now people still remember me as Ranveer of Remix”

Ask Karan about the SET reality show, Mr and Ms TV he did early last year and his face glows up .” I learned a lot. It gave me a platform to showcase my hidden mimic skills. Only thing I would advice others is that even if they black out on the dance floor, they should not show it for had I not done that, I would have surely won the crown". His jodi along with Jasweer Kaur lost out in the finale to Swapnil and Purbi Joshi.

Although he accepts that many people did not see the show as it had a very short duration(9 days), he still stands by the concept, "it was designed in such a way that you could not show it week by week. The rounds was impromptu, so you had to shoot non stop ".

Juhi Chawla now dances to Ram's tunes...

In the coming episode, all contestants of Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 will be seen dancing to the tunes of Amitabh Bachchan, SRK and Salman Khan.

And the best part of the episode was when Juhi danced with the tubby man Ram Kapoor on the floor. The man who is a complete riot on sets has much more in store for viewers this week!!

"Ram who claimed to have two left feet when it comes to dancing was a complete surprise as he harmonized his steps with his choreographer", says our khabroo.

He did a SRK to the hilt dressed like Suri of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. "Ram's hard work and dedication was truly admired by the Teen Deviyaan and they were also generous in awarding him some good marks", adds the source.

He even inspired Juhi Chawla to join him on the dance floor. "They together danced on Banke tera jogi … from Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. At the end of it, Juhi exclaimed, "Punjab Power has lit our lives!", chirps the source. If Juhi's funny one liner brought a laugh on sets, Ram who was quite excited had not yet finished and quipped, "Every time something good happens to me, I wake my wife and daughter from their sleep to share my happiness. Tonight I won't let them sleep ... I danced with Juhi Chawla!!!", concludes our khabroo.

Another mythological show on NDTV Imagine

After the success of Ramayan, Sagar Arts is all set to come up with its new periodic cum mythological drama on NDTV Imagine called Swami Narayan. The show is now in its initial stages.

Moti Sagar confirmed this, saying "We are doing a show called Swami Narayan, but things are in its nascent stages. I can''t divulge any other information".

When asked about the channel he says, "It is for one of the National GEC channels, that is what I can say. For more information you need to wait."

Our khabroo chirps that, "It will be for NDTV Imagine only. The producers had finalized this project long back, but the strike postponed it. The shoot has not yet started and they are now on the verge of finalizing the actors".

"The location will be definitely out of Mumbai, somewhere in Gujrat where the shoot of many other Sagar Arts shows have taken place", concludes the source.

Star Plus Mahaabharat scrapped?

Star Plus and Bobby Bedi''s Mahaabharat was once the talk of the tele-land, but suddenly everything has gone silent after the television strike took over last year. We wonder what the channel and the Producer are up to.

A source from the production house informs, "The show is scrapped from the channel as lots of money was needed. Alongside there was no slot for the same, hence the decision was taken".

We had already reported that the show might see dawn in April, 2009, but all looks bleak now. "The latest news is that the show has been scrapped. However, Bobby has still not left hopes and was heard telling one of his colleagues that he would never part with the hope of getting the show launched someday", adds our source.

Another insider enlightened us further, "The channel was not happy with the star cast of the show. They demanded for lots of changes. With that, they preferred to shoot in Mumbai at Film City, but the producers did not agree. Bobby wanted to give it a real look, and so he wanted it to be shot in the forests around Delhi. Things went wrong and it resulted in the closure of the project".

The star cast for the grand epic was already finalized. Nirmal Pandey as Bheeshm, Gagan Malik as Krishna, Lillete Dubey''s sister, Lushin Dubey was to portray the role of Kunti. Manoje Biddvai was also roped in to play Karan.

The shoot was taking place in the jungles of Morna, near Delhi.

It seems Bobby believes in the phrase that, ''Where there is a will, there is a way''. Let''s see what future lies in store for his Mahaabharat…

Yudhister gets kidnapped...

Star Plus Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat has an interesting week coming up with the Holi festival bringing in color, masti, drama and also suspense to the track.

The Rajya Abhishek (coronation) track has been on for a while now, and there has been a tight contest so far between Rudr (Amit Dua) and Yudhister (Kapil Nirmal). However, this track will end soon with the worthy one being coronated.

But there is a major twist coming during the Holi sequence where the buzz is that Yudhister will get kidnapped.This is a big development in the story as when the Rajya Abhishek is to happen, Yudhi is kidnapped amidst all the Holi activities. This leads to too much of tension as Raja Saab gets unwell.

However, the story will unfold further when Choti Rani and Nandini's plans come to the fore.Not much details is divulged as of now, but it is that Yudhister has been caught in the trap set by both Choti Rani and Nandini. Things will be more clear when Choti Rani gets to know the ulterior motive on Nandini.

If sources are to be believed, all will get fine and eventually viewers will be seeing the Coronation of Yudhister very soon!!

Asif Sheikh enters the Star One show as Dr. Armaan's flirtatious dad...

Star One's Dill Mill Gayye is going in for another twist with a new entry. Veteran film and television actor Asif Sheikh who was last seen in SAB TV's Yes Boss has joined Dill Mill Gayye as Dr. Armaan's dad.

"He is in the show to help him in his quest to win over Riddhima. He is the uninvited dad who will make things worse for Armaan as he is the flirtatious Casanova kind of a guy who checks in every woman who comes his way. He is a young and flashy guy and people will get a dose of comedy as he enters Dill Mill Gayye", quips our source.

According to the track, "Asif Sheikh who is a lenient and friendly dad to Dr Armaan comes to know about Riddhima and quizzes Dr Armaan about it. On the other hand Dr Shasank who by now has already approved the relationship wants to meet Asif to know more about Dr Armaan's family, but eventually he will realize that if this is the kind of family he wants his daughter to go, then he should really think twice".

Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 has just taken off, but the show will see its first elimination today. Well oh well, the result turned out to be a complete shocker as one of the promising contestant, Bhagyashree along with her talented choreographer Toby was ousted today.
