The clash across GEC's to gain supremacy is really heating up now, with Zee TV surging ahead in numbers. According to the TAM ratings of this week, Zee TV has emerged as the No.1 in Non-Film GRPs with 208 GRPs, while Star Plus stands at 201 GRPs, and COLORS at 196 GRPs.
Akash Chawla, Marketing Head, Zee TV said, "Zee TV holds the top position when it comes to Non Film GRPs. Inclusive of films, COLORS and Star Plus are tied up with 248 GRPs, while Zee TV is just behind with 236 GRPs, the difference being a meager 12 GRPs".
Considering the fact that audience has switched their loyalties to the ongoing IPL, Zee TV is the only channel which has grown from 228 GRPs in Week 18 to 236 GRPs in Week 19.
Talking about the remarkable improvement shown by Zee, Akash Chawla further states, "Zee always has the habit of coming back with a bang from being nowhere. Our increase in numbers can be accounted to the fact that our new launches have given us the much needed momentum to rise to the top. If you see, Choti Bahu has created history as it is the only serial slotted at 7.30 PM that has managed to get a TRP of 4. Same is the case with our recently launched show Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo which again gives us a 4 TRP. Our non-fiction show Dance India Dance has been a huge success, and gets an average TRP of 3.8 to 4, while the highest that a non fiction show across all channels has managed to get this season is a mere 1.8 TRP".
"Going forward, we are very positive about our new launches Pavitra Rishtha and Aapki Antara. In the non-fiction arena, we have L'il Champs launching very soon. Jhansi Ki Rani is one more interesting concept we are looking at in the near future. The reality show Ladies Special is also to launch soon. We believe in bringing in new properties to keep the freshness intact, and at the same time will also be taking off the old properties which are almost done with the story telling. Overall, we can say that the next coming months will see an interesting phase in the growth of Zee TV, and we are all geared up for competition", states Akash.
With the IPL drawing to an end in few weeks' time, it looks like there is going to be a big battle for numbers on TV..
